Cross sectional analyses on the prevalence and usage of braille among blind children

Background: Childhood blindness is a serious issue which has to be dealt with importance because the disability adjusted life years (DALY) loss in blind child much more than that of adults blindness. The ability read and write any one language improves their confidence makes them independent. It gives hope not just live but also make living. This study was done emphasize on braille. analyses prevalence utilization braille among children its impact education overall quality life.Methods: data required collected from ophthalmology outpatient department (OPD), Saveetha Medical College Hospital, Thandalam. were asked answer questions based questionnaire after taking informed consent parents.Results: According 50 over 6 months, only 12% used for educational purposes, 58% other assistive technologies, 30% both technologies.Conclusions: shows there inclination towards using technology Braille practical purpose as it easy learn. But important government encourages schools teach all students incorporate public forum advantages are many cannot replaced by technologies.
